Look Good & Feel Good – inside AND out!

So is this how you see yourself on your Ideal Holiday getaway? I have always believed in creative visualisation so this seems like a good place to start! As you may know, IsoWhey is giving you the chance to go to your perfect paradise and really pamper yourself and all you have to do is tell ISW your daily health routine…it’s that easy!

This kind of ties in nicely with my blog this week – on how you can achieve your health goals from both the inside AND outside- it doesn’t all have to be about diet and fitness! We have talked about the psychology of weight loss in the videos on the blog and giving yourself a pamper can really lift your spirits. When you’re setting your fitness / weight loss goals you need to do both short, achievable ones as well as longer term aims, but it’s also a good idea to reward yourself.

Different ways you can practice PILATES…explained!

What do you think of when you hear the term ‘Pilates’? Probably something like the picture below, right?

Typically, a Pilates class, especially in a gym, will be a ‘mat’ class (above). This is indeed the best way to start if you are new to the practice and like any new activity it can take time to get the hang of it. To get the most out of your Pilates practice I recommend that you invest just an hour of your time to have a one-on-one session with a qualified teacher, in doing so you can feel totally confident that you are doing it properly and will therefore progress much more quickly. A lot of Pilates involves very slow and controlled movements, that to the naked eye you cannot see, but inside, well – there’s a lot going on! The difference between doing it in the correct form – or not – can be quite a minute movement or ‘contraction’. Mat Pilates involves concentration, balance, control, breath, flexibility and POWER – ‘get’ these and you will ‘get’ it!! – and see amazing results. But Pilates can be much more than just a mat class.

The other main practice is the Pilates ‘Reformer‘…. read more, press here…

Lose weight & get fit….with PILATES!

PILATES…what does it mean to you? A lot of people may simply associate it with lying on a mat and slowly moving into a few different poses, much like Yoga perhaps? Well, believe it or not, Pilates is one of the most effective things you can do both for your fitness levels AND your weight loss!!                                                     As you can see from the above illustration, Pilates can be defined by many words. In my ‘Introduction to Pilates’ video (which you can view simply by pressing on the ‘video’ page of the blog), I go into the history of Pilates. In fact many people do not realise that he was in fact a person. His work really started in the 1st world war whilst he was interned in a war camp in the UK (due to his German heritage). Here, he worked with the rehabilitation of returning wounded soldiers, in the confining space of their hospital beds (later to become a pilates mat!).                                                                                                                                                         Indeed, Joseph continued this theme when read more…

It’s that time of year when its dark in the morning, its dark in the evening..and it’s cold..and wet..and quite possibly windy as well!! No wonder, at this time people find it so much harder to maintain a fitness and/or weight loss program. What we want to avoid though is waiting till it gets a bit warmer as by then then its often to late to start, and make a difference in time for the beach! So…we need to make sure we don’t become a couch potato and really strive to maintain our goals.

SO what can we do?..
